Gracie's Stitchvah Mitzvah

I am Gracie Kelly, a young Jewish girl coming to the age of 13. In Jewish tradition, turning 13 means you are getting closer to adulthood. Then, you get a bar/bat mitzvah. This is a ceremony where you read prayers and your Torah portion. You also have to do a Bat Mitzvah project. A Bat Mitzvah project is a project helping an organization or a group of people. An example of this would be donating books to a school or collecting food for the homeless.

The project I chose to do is to donate quilts to children's hospitals. This will give kids a warm blanket that someone made for them. This will make them feel happy, cozy and special that they have their own quilt. These quilts could have any pattern and be big or small. It would be lovely if you could help out and sew or buy a quilt.

More info on where to send the quilts and the deadline will come soon. My Bat Mitzvah is on February 14, 2015, so you don't have to hurry to send in quilts. I hope you can participate and have fun making quilts.

  4. This is such a great project - congratulations! I will come back here to see how to give you a quilt. Does it count if I donate it to a children's hospital near me in your name? It might be more logical than shipping it to you.
